BEYIMEI PCI-E 4X SATA Card 20 Ports, PCI Express SATA Controller Expansion Card, 6 Gbit/s SATA 3.0 PCIe Card Without Raid, Boot as System Disk Support HDD or SSD

Surprisingly, a fast disc connected to this expansion card was still faster than older and slower discs connected to my old motherboard.
This card only has a PCI-E x1 interface. Perhaps it would be faster if it had a PCI-E x3 interface. I don’t know but I was happy with the speed anyway. I connect 5 discs to this 8 port card and it is fine. My thinking was that perhaps if the card could support 8 discs, it should be faster than a card which was at its maximum capacity with only 5 discs. It also has an ice-blue led when the discs are accessed. I’m very happy with it. It worked straight out of the box with Linux Open Suse and no drivers required.

Overall, I’m pleased with the device.
My only complaint is that it doesn’t support hot-swap (it needs to boot with the disks already inserted to see them).

Initially, I thought there was an issue because sometimes the hard drives would disconnect. However, after talking with the seller they were able to figure out my issue immediately with almost no information. I was very surprised by their knowledge! For anyone connecting a bunch of hard drives together, make sure they have adequate power, I had connected multiple power splitters together and this resulted in the voltage to the drives being too low. The product works great and I was very impressed by the knowledge of the seller.

Works great on TrueNAS with zfs. I have had 0 problems. It was detected right away. I can hotswap drives with no issues.

No drivers needed. Win 10… Then win 11 both found and had drivers. Thank goodness because the drivers disk I got was damaged and unusable

This controller doesn’t show up as bootable in my BIOS, but to be fair, it’s an ancient BIOS, so I would have been surprised if it had. Otherwise, works great, and is much faster than the built-in 3Gbps SATA controller.

I knew what I was getting myself into what I bought. ASM1166 chipset that runs at PCIe 3.0 x2, which means it can run 6 hard drives at full speed and even at the time (Unless you got one of those multi-actuator hard drives). In my personal experience, its all awesome. Easy to install, great stability, good cables and a good price.

Installed in a PCIe 4x slot on a Dell motherboard under Windows 10. Immediately recognized and drivers loaded from windows. Using the application Hotswap, it will allow me to rotate drives in and out of a drawer for backup. I would say this is an excellent choice for affordable SATA slots.

This was the 3rd board I tried and the only one that would show up in Windows 11 on an ASUS Z690P motherboard.

This is so good i bought it twice for my file server.

It installed immediately in linux, no tweaking necessary — an uncommon occurrence!

I needed to add more disk space in my media server. Ordered a card from a different company, only 3 of the ports worked so back it went. Ordered this one to give it a try. The shipping was fast, the packaging was good. It came with sata cables, power adapter to add 4 more sata power plugs( should come with 2). and driver disk(not needed) Swapped my 4 port card out, put this one in and buttoned it up. Put the server back in place and brought it up. Unraid saw all of the new drives and is working flawlessly. I would highly recommend this card to anyone that needs to expand your sata drive space.

Dropped it in a PCIe x16 port. Boom instant addition of eight hard drives. No issues at all.

Used this card to add an additional SATA port for an SSD inside a Dell Minitower Optiplex 3020 desktop PC and it works just great. Came with a CD with drivers but I didn’t need to use it, Windows installed it automatically! Good value too.

I didn’t have any issues installing this on a FreeBSD 13.0 home server (Dell T20). I would purchase again.

UPDATE

I HAD THE CARD INSTALLED IN AN ASUS Z170-P motherboard. There is a bug in that motherboard – PCIe cards are only detected properly in slot #4. When I moved the card to slot #4 the problem went away.

I have 8 drives connected to this card and it works good. However, if I reboot my PC the drives do not come back online. I need to do a shutdown and then power back on to get the drives back. I reached out to the vendor and they sent me a couple of updates but they did not work. I am currently waiting for their reply to my email that I sent on Feb. 18th.

Bought this to expand my unraid server. It works right out of the box. No configuring necessary.

Works as expected. No drivers required for either Win 10 or Linux.

I got one with 10 SATA connections, It installed fine on both Windows and Linux machines, Was recognized by the OS and no driver was needed. I have not done any stress test but all drives are running properly. For the price point is has been a good and so far reliable purchase.

Just stuck it in and drives from old install started working. Had it for a couple months now in my daily driver, no complaints.

Used this to hook up 6 14TB Seagate Ironwolf drives and have written over half capacity to each with no issues. Set-up was easy, and the included SATA cables worked fine, although I would’ve preferred black cables.

Using it in a trueNAS build. Is working well and all the items were included and functional

Perfect for adding 8 sata ports to my unraid server. Plug and play. Came with 8 sata cables but only 1×4 power. All in all it was a great purchase.

Perfect. Plug and play. Put this card in a Dell Precision T7600 and it picked up the HDD automatically during Win10 OS install. Didn’t even need the driver CD.
